There are no prerequisites to joining VRMC. Training will be tailored to suit the skill level of the incoming batch.

Yes! This is provided that your other CCAs do not clash with each other. VRMC is from Wednesdays 330pm-6pm or Thursdays 330pm-6pm, depending on the week. No approval is required from us for this, just ensure there is no clash :)

This heavily depends on what is needed for competitions and matches the interests of our members. As such, it is highly variable and will depend on the training plans from EXCO of the year. The summary of languages provided below is based on our current training curriculum.

Programming - Python for scripting, C++ for algorithmic programming

Electronics/Drones - C/C++ for Arduino

VEX - Block programming and C++

Upon joining the CCA, members will be given a while to explore the available specialisations before choosing one. Following that, near the end of Term 1, members will be asked to select a specialisation to join for the rest of their term in the CCA. In Term 2, training sessions will be split by specialisations.

Only for the programming specialisation, laptops are required for regular training sessions. For other specialisations, Drones, Vex and Electronics, although highly encouraged, do not require a laptop and those without a laptop can simply work on other parts of the project.

There is a total of 7 EXCO positions in VRMC: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and the respective Heads of each specialisation.

Other than our main EXCO positions, which will be chosen around the beginning of your term, various events such as our March Camp or J2 Farewell do include opportunities such as Group or Station Facilitators.

We do have a lot of competitions ranging throughout the year. However, the workload is dependent on the specialisation head and the EXCO of the year. It is generally quite manageable.

We try to build a more encouraging and welcoming environment where it simply feels like you are hanging out with your friends for 2+ hours a week instead of coming to a boring teaching classroom.
